Any organization is as passionate as its people are. After all, people
are the fabrics of the organization.
It is not the aesthetic interiors, decorated cubicles, ergonomic
chairs, air of openness, culture of transparency and tools for productivity
& collaboration that make the organization passionate. In fact, these are only
hygiene factors for any organization to be smarter.
It is at the end, the constituent of the workforce and their
work-style that matters. Essentially there are two distinct work-styles.
One is ‘SYB’ (save your back), where people try to restrict themselves
to their job descriptions. For them ‘Whole’ is not important. As long as they
do their ‘Part’, they think they have done their job and the problem lies
elsewhere. The other style is ‘BYH’ (bring your heart out), where people go
extra mile to achieve the ‘Whole’. They are ready to experiment, ready to take
risks and ready to help others to achieve the end result. For them if the
‘Whole’ is not achieved, their ‘Part’ does not matter.
Smart Leaders take personal interest to see who is on board. While
they coach and mentor BYH types, they soon get rid of the SYB types.
They know that as long as the people work with a sense of purpose, do
not lie to their conscience and work as a team, there is great possibility of
making a difference. They know that if they get passionate people, they will
pretty well get a passionate organization achieving its purpose.
