Overhead Bin...

Do not know why but feel comfortable in an aisle seat while flying, maybe do get elbow space at least one side and do not feel squeezed. Yesterday while flying back home, I got an aisle seat as usual. Having boarded the plane; settled myself in the allotted seat and started feeling comfortable fiddling with the inflight magazine and newspaper in hand.

Suddenly something hit my head, my glasses flew under the front seat and my mind froze for a moment. The front seat passenger was trying to keep his duffel bag in the overhead cabin bin and it fell straight on my head. It took me sometime to realize the scene and only thing I heard from the man in front “I am terribly sorry”.

The experience was the first time in all my years of flying. With little pain above my left ear, my mind was full of anger. When I looked up with an intention to howl at the man, saw an old man, maybe in his seventies, with a real apologetic face. I clamped down my anger and forced a smile on my face. That settled everything.

I picked up my glasses and thought of myself in twenty years boarding the plane. Thank God that I didn't make a scene.
